Matthew's songs are influenced by the songwriting strength of artists like Jason Isbell, John Prine, and Robbie Fulks and are heavily influenced by country, bluegrass, and rock, His guitar style - heavily drawn from bluegrass and jazz, but inflected with energy from the punk rock Matthew listened to growing up - underpins these songs in solo, duo, or full band performances. 

Sets can range from a focused original music showcases to extended cover-heavy solo or band sets featuring rock, country, and Americana standards and hidden gems.
